Chief Engineer / HDO:
The Chief Engineer/HDO will manage both the development of the Elfly DO and the design of the first demonstrator aircraft Noemi, by leading the design team and overseeing the entire Design Assurance Process.
Main responsibilities:
- Lead the design team in creating the electric seaplane designs, ensuring compliance with EASA Part 21 regulations, and overseeing the entire Design Assurance Process from concept to prototype.
- Develop and implement a strategic vision for the DO, ensuring alignment with EASA requirements and industry best practices.
- Provide technical leadership to engineering teams, ensuring alignment with the applicable Certification Specifications, Safety Standards, Minimum Performance Standards and Environmental Qualification Standards.
- Take ownership of key engineering aspects, including the evaluation and selection of technologies and components to meet EASA standards for airworthiness and safety.
- Collaborate closely with EASA representatives to facilitate the certification process and address regulatory requirements throughout the design and engineering lifecycle.
- Build and mentor a high-performing engineering team, fostering a culture of collaboration, creativity, and continuous improvement.
- Provide technical oversight and guidance on complex engineering challenges.
- Work closely with the CTO and the Head of Program to align technical strategies with overall business objectives.
- Optimise the use of engineering resources, ensuring efficient allocation to maximise productivity and achieve project goals.
Your profile:
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven leadership experience on a complete program in aerospace design and engineering.
- In-depth design experience on a variety of aircraft systems.
- Comprehensive understanding of Systems Engineering procedures.
- Advanced knowledge of EASA Part 21, CS-23 and their Acceptable Means of Compliance.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work closely with EASA representatives and cross-functional teams.
- Ability to understand and manage the duality of the role.
- Experience on seaplane/electric aircraft programs/composites technology is a plus.
- Fluent in English, written and spoken
- Safety-oriented attitude
- Work in a structured and organised manner
- Able to take initiative, ownership and responsibility
