Head of Mechanical Systems:
We are looking for an experienced Head of Mechanical Systems to lead our mechanical engineering team in the development of the Noemi. You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of mechanical design, analysis, and testing to ensure the successful development and integration of mechanical systems into our aircraft platforms. This role is perfect for you if you love to toggle between hands-on technical tasks, business functions and leading a small team of awesome people.
Main responsibilities:
- Lead the design and development of mechanical systems and components, including landing gear, and control surfaces.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the seamless integration of mechanical systems into the overall aircraft design.
- Conduct structural analysis and simulation to evaluate mechanical components and systems.
- Identify opportunities for structural optimization and weight reduction while maintaining safety and performance requirements.
- For non off-the-shelf parts, oversee the manufacturing of mechanical prototypes, working closely with the manufacturing team to ensure quality and accuracy.
- Plan and execute mechanical testing programs, including ground tests and flight tests, to validate design performance and safety.
- Identify and select suppliers for mechanical components and systems, negotiating contracts and agreements to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery.
- Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers, monitoring performance and addressing any issues or concerns.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the mechanical engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Set clear goals and expectations for team members, providing regular feedback and coaching to support their professional development.
Your profile:
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in aerospace or related industries, with a proven track record of leading mechanical design projects
Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks) and finite element analysis tools (e.g., ANSYS, Nastran) - Strong understanding of aerospace regulations and standards, including those related to mechanical systems design and certification (e.g., EASA, FAA)
- Experience with prototype manufacturing and testing, including knowledge of relevant testing standards and procedures
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively lead a small team and collaborate with cross-functional groups
- Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and a proactive, results-oriented approach to project management
- Fluent in English, written and spoken

- Able to take initiative, ownership and responsibility
